The AACC is planning to build a 50' x 15' reproduction of the Amistad Slave Ship.
Visitors will be able to see how slaves were transported through the middle passage.

The Importance

The Amistad story is an important part of the Nation's history because it demonstrates an

early example of people of different cultures, races, faiths, and genders uniting to fight for the same cause of freedom and dignity through the American Democratic Process.
It was the first civil rights case in America. The Amistad case tested the American judicial system of appeals and demonstrates the fundamental of the judiciary process.
